| Event: |
Not really a club event, but a significant achievement for
one of our members. |
| Date: |
On-going for the past 10 years but finally on July 1, 2004 |
| Location: |
Tyndall AFB, Florida |
| Description: |
Robin is one of our honorary club members we picked up
several years ago while at the Travelling Vietnam Wall in Round
Rock. At that time, she was in undergraduate school (engineering) at
the University of Texas and was continuing her life's path to earn her
wings and fly F15's. Well, on July 1, 2004, she got what she
deserved. Her solo flight! Nobody could describe her
experience better then her, so here goes...
In Robins words. "I blasted off of runway 13R this morning
as #2 in a 2-ship of F-15C Eagles today....solo! My first time
flying a single seat fighter, and not only that, but flying the greatest
air superiority fighter ever built! (barring the Raptor,...maybe) I'm
not sure how many years I've waited for this...ten, maybe? Since
junior high, anyway. Today as I flew up the Florida coastline at
400kts, 7000 feet on the wing of another Eagle, I thanked God for such a
blessing. Life is good, baby! And I'm a testament to the fact
that anybody can achieve their dreams... Just be stubborn and never
take "no" for an answer.
Happy 4th of July! I celebrated by dropping flares over the Gulf of
Mexico.
Check six,
-Robin
