What a neat first-time event!
Scott was headed back home from "Kaiserville", aka: the
in-laws, and as he was approaching Oak Hill, he noticed the old Oak Hill
Elementary School field was full of hot-rods, food vendors and booths of
all types and sizes. After arriving at home, he found a copy of the
Oak Hill Gazette in the driveway, and on the front page was an event
advertised as "hot cars and hot music at new Oak Hill festival".
Well, the rain had stopped from earlier this morning and he said he was
planning on taking the jeep out for a maintenance run anyway. With
that in mind, it didn't take long for him to fire the old jeep up and head
over to the event, arriving about 4:30pm. He then found a spot to
park with all the other vehicles.
There were some really nice hot-rods there. Included were new
muscle cars, old hot-rods, really modified hot-rods and some just
beautifully restored vehicles. His favorite was a '41 Willis with a
blown engine of some huge size. Next favorite was a newer white
Mustang that was done really well for a street car. It just sounded
nice.
Scott answered a lot of questions about the jeep, and fielded more
'road rage' and 'deer hunting' topics than he could stand. The
vehicle was a real crowd pleaser as it's just so different than the rest
of the vehicles that show up for these things. That's what makes it
so fun to take out!
About dark-thirty, he packed up his gear and headed out. Scott
indicated this will be an annual event. Stay tuned...
