| Event: |
Texas Independence Day Parade |
| Date: |
March 1, 2003 |
| Location: |
Austin, Texas |
| Description: |
It was a bit chilly early
on, and a drizzly fog hung over the entire parade route. It was the kind
of day only ducks and the hard core could appreciate and we were there.
Our showing was small as were the spectators, but the parade went on and
the crowd was no less appreciative. Those braving the elements with their
all weather jeeps were Jim W. and his First Sgt. Kadi, John K., Glen V.,
Danny K., and John S. with his deuce. For moral support was Herb T., V.
President Ward B., and a cameo appearance by President Tim W.
Casualties of the parade was Danny's
jeep with a blown water pump and John's deuce with a serious transmission
leak but both should be fully recovered by the time the Burnet Air Show
rolls around in April.
As parades go, most seem a little
unorganized, sometimes inconvenient, but good times are had by all and
looking forward to next year. |
