As parades go, this was another short one.
In attendance were John S with his M35A2 and trailer
combination, Tim W with his 1941 Willys, and Jeni L who rode
shotgun with Tim. Although
the parade was short, the crowd was rather large and the route took the
vehicles right through the heart of event activities.
With Tim and Jeni in the lead, John was faced with maneuvering his
rig down the dirt road route and in between vendor tents set up on either
side. As the crowd pressed
in, they had to be cautioned to watch out for the truck due to John’s
limited visibility. Although
concerns about someone in the crowd getting caught under the wheels made
for a few white-knuckle moments, the parade went off without a hitch.
Afterwards, John, Tim, and Jeni made it over to a classic car show
which was being held at a local car dealership in conjunction with the
other festivities. Although
not technically part of the show, the military vehicles managed to pull a
fair number of admirers of their own. The locals rolled out the red carpet for this one and finding
free food was nice fringe benefit for participating.
