An annual event held around the country to celebrate and
recognize those men and women in police, EMS, firefighter and veterans
positions currently in service or those who have served, this was one fun
and emotional day.
John S brought out his big M35A2/trailer combination as the largest
vehicle in the club, Danny brought his M151A2/M416, Tim his MB and GPW,
Glen V and his CJ2A and Barry his Chevrolet 1 1/2 ton truck. Showing
up later in the day included Scott S.
The morning started with staging the vehicles and then attending a
church/recognition ceremony. There was a significant amount of
flag-waving, cheering and tears by those members of the church attending
the event. After a recognition of each of the major categories
mentioned above, a short service was held and everyone was dismissed.
At that point, all the church members made their way to the parking lot
to express their sincere thanks to all the club members, chat about their
war stories or interactions with the military, police, fire and ems people
on hand.
The event was well attended with representatives from the Austin Police
Department, Travis County Sheriff's Office, Travis County Constable's
Office, Austin Fire Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
