In the hangar was the P-38 Lightning of Lefty Gardner which crashed in June of 2000 after the left engine supercharger caught fire and forced the pilot, his son, to land in a cotton field.  It was a sad sight to see the P-38 in that condition after many years of seeing it's airframe grace the skies of many shows we have attended.  Hopefully with donations and community support the P-38 will soon fly again.

Our club was well represented for WWII, Korea and Vietnam period vehicles and uniforms.  Jeff McD, John K, Tim W, and Toby C each brought their Willys MB's as well as dressed in period correct uniform.  Lewis S brought his 1st CAV 1952 M38A1 and was represented in a 1st CAV uniform.  Danny K in uniform, brought his 1970 M151A2 and M416 trailer to round out Vietnam.    Rounding out the club attendance was Scott S with his 1939 Colson bicycle and he was dressed in a WWII mechanics coverall and cap set.  Jim W also dropped in for  a bit from San Antonio.

The day started out delightful and began to warm up early.  A command decision was made to move from our normal area to a shaded area.  In the end, we were all glad this happened as the temperatures crowded 91 degrees.  We shared the shade with two HUMMVEES from Ft. Hood as well.  Around noon, the show started and the hoards of spectators left us alone long enough to fire up the grill Danny brought and cook sausages, hot dogs and the like.  Scott brought the cooler of drinks.  A relaxing lunch and show under the trees was well deserved as the show continued through the afternoon hours.  Around mid-show, Austin Weber from Marble Falls, Texas arrived with his Ferret  and and M-37 to add to our display.
